We are pleased to announce that Dr Ana Mijic and Dr Wouter Buytaert, together with Prof Howard Wheater from University of Saskatchewan and Dr Beth Jackson from Victoria University of Wellington, will be convening 2013 AGU Fall Meeting session H008: Assessing land use change effects on hydrological processes and feedbacks. Abstracts can be submitted by 6 August 2013 here.
Land use change is fundamentally affecting water resources and increasing uncertainty in water and flood management decision-making. Complex interactions between subsurface, surface and atmosphere in the dynamically changing environment require new process understanding and integrating modelling approach. This session focuses on experimental and modelling studies addressing a) methods to represent historical reconstruction and future predictions of land use changes and water cycle drivers for hydrological assessment, b) land use change impacts on hydrological processes, in particular on evaporation and recharge predictions, c) evaluation and development of models for assessing hydrological feedbacks and d) uncertainty in model parameters’ response to land use changes at local, regional and global scales.
